Myanmar Substation Expansion Project in Yangon

On February 29, 2016, CITIC Construction signed an EPC contract for the 230kV substation expansion project in Yangon of Myanmar with Myanmar Electric Power Enterprise, laying a sound foundation for CITIC Construction to further explore the Myanmar market.

The substation expansion project will upgrade the 230/66/11 kV substation in Yangon, including adding two new 230kV and 125 MVA three-phase transformers and 10 rounds of 66kV cable wire. The contract duration is 24 months.

With a total capacity of 250MVA after the expansion, the substation bears the most load capacity of Yangon, which will alleviate the pressure on power supply in the region and improve the electricity quality, so as to better serve local livelihood as well as socio-economic development.

As one of the most important countries of China's “Belt and Road” initiative as well as the Bangladesh-China-India–Myanmar Economic Corridor cooperation, Myanmar has tremendous demand in electricity, transportation, water conservancy and other infrastructures.
