The contract was signed on December 15, 2005.The project was officially started on December 14, 2006 and completed for putting into commercial operation on December 29, 2010.
The project was a F+EPC turnkey project with the export buyer's credit. As the EPC general contractor, CITIC Construction signed the contract with CGTEE, a subsidiary of Eletrobras. The construction period was 48 months.
It was the first large-scale EPC general contracting project undertaken by a Chinese contractor in Brazil and South America, marking the export of 60Hz high-capacity generator sets made in China to overseas market for the first time. The circulating fluid bed for flue gas desulfurization applied by the project is one of the largest dry desulphurization equipments in the world.
