
On the morning of July 7, 2011, Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos attended the completion ceremony of the 117 apartment buildings and 3,200 housing suites on the first four blocks of Phase I of K.K. Social Housing Project undertaken by CITIC Construction Co., Ltd., cutting the ribbon for the ceremony.
Under the leadership of project leaders, including Yuan Shaobin, president of CITIC Construction and Liu Guigen, vice president of CITIC Construction and general manager of Southern Africa Region of CITIC Construction, over 10,000 Chinese constructors of CITIC Construction lined up to welcome the President and his entourage.
At the scene of the ceremony, dos Santos spoke highly of the project’s success, and visited completed blocks in high spirits in the company of the persons in charge of the projects.
Phase I of K.K. Social Housing Project, undertaken by CITIC Construction as an EPC general contractor, is a project implemented by the Angolan government to alleviate the shortage of domestic housing, maintain social stability, and promote economic development. With a total contract value of about USD 3.535 billion, the project is currently Angola’s largest housing project as well as an overseas EPC housing project with the largest single contract value that has ever been undertaken by Chinese enterprises.
