On June 24, 2026 (local time), Yaracuy State in northwestern Venezuela was struck by two consecutive strong earthquakes of magnitude 7 or above and multiple aftershocks. The Venezuelan Tiuna Social Housing Project in Caracas and the Aragua State block of the Venezuelan Social Housing Project, both undertaken by CITIC Construction, are located in the affected areas.

Following the earthquakes, CITIC Construction attached great importance to project safety, immediately organizing safety inspections and continuously monitoring the structural condition of the buildings. The delivered buildings of the relevant projects have been operating normally, with no abnormalities such as collapse or structural damage to the main bodies detected.

After the earthquake, the infrastructure and habitability assessment expert team of the Presidential Commission of Venezuela also conducted on-site random inspections of the structural safety performance of the completed and delivered buildings of both projects. Upon verification, the structural safety performance of the relevant buildings remains fully intact, with no safety hazards. The expert team issued and posted the official safety certification labels reading “Habitable/Access Permitted” on-site, fully affirming the projects’ construction quality and seismic safety standards.

Both the Venezuelan Tiuna Social Housing Project and the Venezuelan Social Housing Project were designed in accordance with local building codes to withstand seismic standards for a magnitude 8 earthquake, and were successively delivered for use from December 2011 to July 2014. Over the years, the projects have continuously served the housing needs of local residents, playing an active role in improving people’s livelihoods and promoting local social development.
