In order to implement the confidence measures in the economic field of the member countries of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and promote the cooperation between enterprises of the CICA member countries, the Fifth Plenary Session of the CICA Business Council and the Seventh CICA Business Forum was held in Nur-Sultan on June 27, 2022. Kairat Sarybay, Executive Director of the Secretariat of CICA, Raimbek Batalov, Chairman of the Board of the CICA Business Council and Zhang Yujing, President of China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Projects and Chairman of CICA China Business Council, attended the meeting via online and off-line platforms. Chen Xiaojia, Chairman of CITIC Construction, was invited to give a special speech via videolink as a member of CICA ChinaBusiness Council.
CITIC Construction organized 2022 foreign languages "cloud test" from late May to early June for its employees. The test includes nine languages including English, Russian, Portuguese, French, Spanish, Korean, Arabic, Japanese and Persian. Guided by the requirements of COVID-19 prevention and control, the written test was held simultaneously online in China, Angola, Algeria, Venezuela, Myanmar, Belarus, Iraq, and the United Kingdom. The oral exams were carried out successively via phone call or video call. The tests covered all company's ongoing projects or representative offices, with a total of 217 participants.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Uzbekistan and promote people-to-people diplomacy between the two countries, the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) and the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Relations with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan co-hosted an online forum on May 31, 2022. Lin Songtian, President of CPAFFC, Ravshanbek Kurbanov, Chairman of the Committee on Interethnic Relations and Friendly Relations with Foreign Countries under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Jiang Yan, Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan, and Farhod Arziev, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to China attended the forum. Tao Yang, Vice President of the China-Central Asia Friendship Association and General Manager of CITIC Construction attended and addressed the forum upon invitation.
On May 25, Aleksandr Chervyakov, Belarusian Minister of Economy, presented the award for significant contribution to trade and economic cooperation over the past 30 years since the establishment of China-Belarus diplomatic relations to CITIC Construction Co., Ltd.
On the morning of April 22 Beijing Time, the China-U.S. High-level Agricultural Dialogue hosted by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United States of America, the United States Heartland China Association (USHCA), and the China Agricultural Association for International Exchange (CAAIE) was successfully held in Des Moines, Iowa. Chen Xiaojia, President of CAAIE and Chairman of CITIC Construction delivered welcoming remarks on behalf of CAAIE signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) with USHCA.
The Chuxiong-Dali Expressway undertaken by CITIC Construction was officially opened to traffic on March 31, 2022.
On March 14, the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics were officially declared closed. In view of CITIC Construction’s contributions to the construction and operation of various venues in the Zhangjiakou competition zone of the Winter Olympics, the Beijing Winter Olympics Organizing Committee Zhangjiakou Awards Plaza and the Uniform and Registration Sub-center respectively issued certificates to CITIC Construction. The Zhangjiakou Winter Olympic Village (Winter Paralympic Village) operation team specially sent a letter of thanks for CITIC Construction.
On February 20, 2022, the 16-day Winter Olympic Games came to an end. Since the closed-loop management of the core area of Chongli on January 21, 589 support personnel of Chongli Ice and Snow Town project undertaken by CITIC Construction have adhered to their posts and made selfless dedication, successfully completing the guarantee task for the Winter Olympic Games.
On October 28, 2021, CITIC Construction signed an EPC contract for the first phase of the AI Khairat heavy oil power plant in Iraq, with a contract value of USD 2.85 billion. Chen Xiaojia, Chairman of CITIC Construction, and Mazin Wajih, Chairman of Harlow International, held a meeting via video link in Beijing and Dubai respectively and signed the contract on behalf of both sides. Tao Yang, General Manager of CITIC Construction, attended the signing ceremony. Yang Jianqiang, Deputy President of CITIC Construction presided over the meeting in Belarus.
On the morning of November 6, 2021, the International Convention and Exhibition Center of Chongli Ice and Snow Town obtained the completion acceptance certificate and was handed over to the Office of Winter Olympic Affairs in Zhangjiakou. Representatives from the Housing and Urban Development Bureau in Chongli, the management company of the project, CIECC Engineering Construction Project Management Corporation, the Architectural Design and Research Institute of Harbin Institute of Technology and geological & prospecting institutions participated in this final project check.
