It is the first time that a Chinese enterprise won Hong Kong's railway electromechanical equipments installation project through bidding, which challenged the domination position of the overseas companies in this field in Hong Kong. Hong Kong's Mass Transit Railway Corporation (now known as MTR Corporation Limited) took the lead in adopting the "Owner and Contractor Partnership System" in the project. The project involved railways of a total length of 12.5km, five stations and one parking lot. The project contact was signed in June 1999, which stipulated that CITIC Construction was responsible for design, products supply, installation and commissioning. In October 2002, the company successfully completed the project.
The EPC contract of Kungrad Soda Plant in Uzbekistan was completed and put into operation in 2006. The plant, with the design capacity of 100,000 tons of soda ash annually, adopts China's proprietary soda ash production technologies and China-made production equipments. As the first chemical project undertaken by a Chinese company in Uzbekistan, the Kungrad Soda Plant Project established CITIC Group's brand image in Uzbekistan and was highly valued by leaders of both countries.
In 1996, CITIC Construction won the bid for the general construction contract of Daxie Cross-sea Highway & Railway Bridge Project. The bridge was China’s first pre-stressed concrete continuous rigid frame bridge in which both the highway and railway were built on the same bridge deck beam. The total length of the main bridge and railway approach bridges on both banks reaches 1,661.75 meters, and that of the main bridge and the highway approach bridge on the Beilun Bank is 2,459.81 meters. Besides, all ramps of the interchange on the Daxie Bank are “Single-way and Double-Lane” ramps. After completion, the project was rated as a “High-quality Project” with “Zero Error” in its middle span closing.
In August 2007, the contract for Chongqing Rail Transit Line 2 Project was officially signed. It was prescribed in the contract that the Line 2 Project would adopt the straddle monorail system and there should be 18 stations along the 19.15-kilometer-long rail. CITIC Construction served as the general contractor of the electromechanical equipment systems and the supplier of the electromechanical equipment package consisting of the signal equipment system, the power supply equipment system, the power supply line system and the turnout system.

In February 1999, CITIC Construction undertook Hong Kong Aldrich Bay Primary School Project as the general construction contractor. With a floor area of 13,810 square meters and an overall height of 28 meters, the project is a frame structure with eight floors above ground and one floor underground. The construction period was 18 months. After completion, the project was rated as "Excellent" in engineering quality.
The contract for Uzbekistan Potash Fertilizer Plant Project was signed in July 2007. The plant was put into production in August 2010. Located in the west of Deh Karshi-khanabad City of Qashqadaryo viloyati, the project was a new potash fertilizer plant with sylvite as raw materials and an annual potassium chloride output of 200,000t under EPC general contracting. It was also the first potash fertilizer plant in Central Asia. In 2011, CITIC Construction undertook the second phase of this project to build another plant with an annual potassium chloride output of 400,000t to the north of the first phase.
IGEO infrastructure project is the basic infrastructure construction and laboratorial technique services that provides scientific research assurance for the Angola geological survey project. It offers a systematic, solid and comprehensive platform for Angola’s national geological work. When completed, IGEO will be the main body of Angola’s national geological science and technology system. The IGEO will carry out data test and analysis in such fields as regional geology, mineral geology, hydrogeology and geochemical exploration. The contract was officially signed on December 12, 2013, with the total amount of USD 62.5 million. Started on October 15, 2015, the project construction will last for 48 months as stipulated in the contract.
The project marks a breakthrough for CITIC Construction in the new market of the Democratic Republic of Congo.
